Thank-you all for the wonderful encouraging memo's you wrote me. Halloween is over...my wife has hidden the kids candy away where I can't find them. I have been losing a pound here and there but nothing great. I have been enjoying working out at the gym, though, but I still need to put a reign on my late night snacking. Juggling shift work and family life, I find it difficult to eat at proper times and get to the gym on a regular basis. I need to think about my family more instead of reaching for something in the cupboard. I know I will get down in weight it just takes change and discipline. Regards, Jim

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Tim-215 from Ohio on Nov 4, 2008 Good job, Jim. That magic 1 to 3 pounds a week will get it done faster than you'd think. I hear you on finding time for exercise. Nobody has time to exercise, we have to make time for exercise. It speeds up the process and helps you feel on top of your game. Have a super week, you're doing fine.

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Karen-216 from California on Nov 4, 2008 Hi Jim! One of the things I'm learning about weight loss is that for better or worse, small things add up quickly. It can be ounces lost, or calories consumed, but our bodies accurately account for them all. So--carry on with your "small" campaign. A few exercise routines in, a few less late-night kitchen excursions, and voila! You'll keep on posting losses.
Have another great week!
Blessings, Karen

There is nothing "not great" about the loss of those pounds, Jim. That rate of loss you'll be at goal at a healthy, sustanable pace - just keep the weeks like that lined up against one another - that's the challenge! - Dave

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Juanita-6 from BC, Canada on Nov 7, 2008 This is a late welcome, Jim! Whether it took baseball to get you here, I hope that you will find this community to be of help in you reaching your goal! The tools are in dr. Nick's book and there are helpful people and tools here as well. Enjoy the ride! It is nice to see another Canuck on board, even though I am living in another country. Always nice to see folks from "home" being a part of the SEA of love! Blessings, Juanita

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Lee-306 from California on Nov 15, 2008 Sounds like you've got a good wife there -- hiding the candy helps. Remember, set your jaw and lose the weight and kick the exercise up and you are not saying goodbye to all candy for the rest of your life. You can still have it in reasonable amounts in the future - balanced with diet and exercise - a treat, not a meal. I know all about candy -- I used to love the halloween period because I could buy the bulk bags cheap and keep it in my desk and munch munch munch. Now I'm looking forward to hitting my goal solidly so that once in a while I can enjoy candy as a special treat. Go for it!
