I'm in fairly good health... addicted to food! Not a huge meat eater... but enjoy protein drinks.
I used to exercise often, but due to work obligations... exercise had been put on hold for a few months... also lets my tennis elbow heal.
We'll since my start on April 21st, my progress has been slow.
I am having a difficult time sticking to my chosen program... but I am now 180 pounds.
So must not have been that bad.

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Shirley-261 from Tennessee on May 5, 2008 Susanne WELCOME to the Health Steward family. After reading your first update, my thought was to encourage you to get a MENTOR early on. Just click on "Mentor" at the top of the page in blue, and read several of the condensed stories of the stewards who are our mentors. They are people who can help guide you, encourage you and give you some one-on-one help. And my experience has been that having a mentor was what kept me here and helped to give me a lot of clarity in several areas from her own experience. I hope you find a way to work in just a little exercise at least (I do handweights while watching tv or while I am reading updates on here.) :) If we make an effort, it's always doable. I really look forward to your next post. GOOD loss this week! ~shirley~

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Jane-209 from Montana on May 5, 2008 Welcome, Susanne! You have lost 4 pounds! That is wonderful. 4 pounds can mean getting that blouse to button easier or that pair of pants to fit better. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next post! Jane

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Lorie-137 from Arizona on May 5, 2008 Susanne,
Welcome to HS. You started on my Birthday!! We're so glad to have you.
I think a four pound weight loss is excellent. Better to lose than to gain!
Posting weekly is important too. If you don't go to the forum, you might want to try that as well. I have learned so much just by reading other people's post. My first two years on HS that was a huge part of my journey - just learning.
Have a good week, Lorie

Posted by fellow HealthSteward dr. Nick-1 from California on May 5, 2008 You are off to a great start! Thanks for allowing us to be a part of it. Its neat to see how many people care by the number of posts you get. This online community is real. Please know though that it cannot replace the support, encouragement and gracious accountability you will need to have in real life as well. I would suggest you consider sharing this page with others and allow them the opportunity to be a part of your support team. This is a challenging process. Its so hard to change one's life. Real hard but with good support amazing things are possible. Please know that you will also get out of this what you put into it. Its a great day and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey! Welcome to Health Stewards!!!!

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Juanita-6 from BC, Canada on May 15, 2008 Nice to see you here, Susanne! I am a Canuck by birth, recently moved to the USA where I now live with my husband. Timing is everything and it is not by accident that you finally read dr. Nick's book and decided to become a part of this HS family. I encourage you to be diligent in posting, listening to House Calls and reporting regularly - loss or gain! It's not always easy to report the gain, but we all know that being "real" wards off denial which sometimes is why our weight creeps up or that we yo-yo. Been there and done that myself! Welcome and look forward to your next update! Blessings, Juanita

I'm 5'3" like you, and I was 180, too, awhile back, but now I'm 148! If I can do it, anyone can! The protein shakes REALLY helped me. So did a LOT of time on this website! And the GRACE OF GOD, of course!!!
Hope to see you in the 70s next week!!

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Irene-277 from Michigan on Jul 9, 2008 Hi! I just wanted to let you know that some of us HS's are gathering at Forman Park in Putneyville, NY by Lake Ontario on Saturday July 26, 2008. If this gathering in anyway fits in your schedule, we'd be glad to see you there. Contact Melanie - 264 or Karsten - 53 for details. Glad you decided to join HS's. I find it invaluable. I let work constraints outwit my exercising also. That has taken place over a lot of years. If your schedule permits I hope you can join us.
