Started some shakes |
|
 |
Hi Everyone, this week I've started some shakes into my diet. I use them to get my motor running in the morning. Because if I didn't do that I wouldn't eat anything for breakfast and I know that's a BIG no-no. You should always get that metabolism going with something. My veggies though not new to my diet was squash and zucchini ! I wanted to try them on the grill! OH MY GOODNESS they are so yummy on the grill! My girlfriend also shared a way to prepare them is to put parmasein (sp?) cheese over them, pop them in the microwave and that's it. They're yummy that way too! So shakes in the morning, exercising WHENEVER I get a chance, incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet and not forgetting to drink my water is what I'm focusing on right now. I think I should start a food journal too. I do struggle with the recreational eating (VII Pillars). I love having people over or going to parties and it's all about the food and drinks. I know I have posted in the past regarding celebrating. I remember thinking back then, "ok when this persons birthday passes" or "after that wedding is over" etc...I would get ahold of myself and I would be alright. I have not been invited to more parties in my life. I am not kidding my life has seemed to be one big party! I'm not complaining, because I love having friends and family but I really do need to get a handle on it. Until next time, know you are in my thoughts daily. Remember, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret, choose your pain. Seek His Kingdom first! Hugs, Debbie

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Mary-104 from Minnesota on Aug 29, 2007 Hi Debbie, sounds like you're working hard, and for sure it will pay off. Thanks for the reminder about grilled veggies--I know how good they are but because I've never been in the habit of fixing them that way, I forget to do it. I'll have to dig up some zucchini and try it that way! Keep slugging down that water, exercise whenever you can, and you'll be the incredible shrinking woman. Have a great week!

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Melodie-28 from Florida on Aug 29, 2007 Great update Debbie!! I think ill choose the pain of discipline as it is so much easier then the pain of regret!! Thanks for sharing that... yes.. life is one big party....but we can choose to enjoy it with healthy foods too.. and still enjoy our friends/family! Your plan sounds good.. looking forward to next weeks update!! Hugs, Melodie

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Kathy-227 from Arkansas on Aug 29, 2007 I know exactly what you mean! The reason I joined HS a couple of weeks later than I intended was that I had to wait until after a special little friend's birthday party! I thought I HAD to eat some of her cake! Isn't that crazy? Since then I've been to 3 baby showers. I survived two of them without cake, but I caved at the third one!
Good luck figuring out how to celebrate in a healthy way! I'm already dreading the "Holiday Eating Season!!"

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Shirley-261 from Tennessee on Aug 29, 2007 Sounds good Debbie! Adding shakes in sure does simplify things and is a quick and easy breakfast. And I am big grilled veggie fan too. I grill out probably 5 nights out of 7.. summer AND winter. :) If you drive by you would see me out there in my coat, grilling away. :) Hope you have a great week and a good loss! ~shirley~

HEy, have another good week - and good on you for having the shake at breakfast - that is something I really have to work on - shades of bad habits I think of years of bingeing nocturnally and just not being hungry in the morning.........keep up the good work, J

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Kristin-272 from Texas on Nov 16, 2007 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Happy Birthday!!! I hope it is wonderful...thanks for the tips & I'll share a cooking secret, too...Most vegetables, though asparagus is my FAVORITE this way...can be washed, trimmed and laid on a sheet of aluminum foil...drizzled with Olive Oil, spices and parmesan (if desired) and wrapped into a foil pouch (this also works with chicken and fish) and baked at high temps in the oven (I usually use 375-425) for about 15-25 minutes ----you might want to check the internet for "foil" recipes for more exact times with the fish and poultry...SUCCULENT!!! Enjoy your birthday...and your veggies!!! I love squash!!! Love, Kristin
