Has it really been four months since I last posted? Wow! How time flies when your having fun!!!
Please forgive me. I have been so active lately that I have neglected to drop by for my weekly visit. I just celebrated my 45th birthday with a skating party. I had a blast. I invited over 300 people. Just 2 years ago a party of this magnitude would have never happened. I would not be caught on a pair of skates let along have the energy to plan and execute a party. If I have been invited to anything like this, I would not have gone. So needless to say, my motivationand attitude have changed.
My family and friends helped me celebrate life. There was plenty of falling down. But we helped each other back up. A couple of families even brought in their strollers so that the "little ones" could be on the skate floor. It was great.
As you can see, I put on a few pounds due to letting down my guard. But I am back on track and in training for the March of Dimes 5K walk on May 1st. I have never finished the walk in the three years I have tried it. This will be the year that I finish, Lord willing. I am fired up.
Until next post, take care. Valerie

So good to see your update. I love that you celebrated wiith a skating party. How cool!! I wish you would update your picture. I peeked in your 'additional photos' on your profile page and saw the BEAUTIFUL picture of you from Christmas 09. And I love how your graph line just tumbles on down. I just love the positiveness that comes out of your update, too. Celebrating life! I love that statement! Peggy

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Mary-84 from California on Apr 23, 2010 Happy belated birthday Valerie! Your celebration must have been wonderful. I haven't skated in a long, long time. I used to take my grandchildren skating and when they got old enough to go on their own, i stopped skating. Too bad that I did, I used to really enjoy it. it was wonderful to see you in the recent updates tonight. I always enjoy reading about the interesting things you do. Good luck with the 5K. That should be fun. Much love, Mary

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Lorie-137 from Arizona on Apr 25, 2010 Oh I love skating. I should have come to your party!! It sounds awesome to me!!
I know you can do this 5K too. I did one two years ago. I had someone to walk with me and it was great!! It was for a church fund raiser. As we approached the finish line they were playing the Hallelujah Chorus. We could hear it from way off and it was great encouragement to us. And it was fun.
Enjoy!!

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Alberta-340 from Connecticut on Jul 12, 2010 Thanks, Valerie for the encouragment. This really is new for me but I know with all of the support I have been given so far, I feel I have to report back and let everyone know how I am doing. I am just getting used to the site and how it works. I am so thankful to you and the others who have taken the time to encourage me. My family has seen me loose the same 10 to 15 pounds over and over again. I am going to reach my goal this time. I just know that I will. Thanks, again.

Posted by fellow HealthSteward Carol-326 from California on Jul 22, 2010 Wow Valerie, Skating I use to skate. I gave mine away. I have a rink just a few miles from me. Never consider getting back on. Great Idea. I know what ya mean about the walks I am a cardiac RN. and we have a heart walk every yr and I always had to much hip pain to join in but I think I could do that this yr.. You look great. I am glad you have tried the weight loss first. I have a supervisor and I know a few nurses that have had the bypass and kept the weight off for a while but they are now very heavy again. And it compromises your health. It is Good at first but. doesn't guarantee the weight will stay gone. You are doing a great job. My prayers go with you. God Bless and Be Well
