Greetings fellow Stewards. The time has come. I am Here! Here by popular Demand! Here with admitted need. Here asking for your support and encouragement. Many thanks to those who have requested my participation in order to provide to me some needed cheer leading and accountability. I am blessed and thankful for your requests.
I am also here to admit that I too need your help. This is a life long journey. A deliberate process. A constant and daily sequence of choices. Yes, it becomes more natural and yes it feels more like a routine but its still a struggle. Sometimes that struggle is more real than others. As I admitted in the current house call "Munchie Strategies," I still struggle with late night temptations and staring down some of those old late night habits. Even at this moment having just returned from a Padre game and settling down to answer a large number of emails, the pantry calls! This intermittent late night grazing combined with a little less time spent in the gym has led to the reappearance of 20 pounds of unwanted fat. The buck stops here. I am still wearing all the same clothes but can sense that they are a bit more snug than before. My wife and family have also taken notice and I want to be consistent with what I am asking each of you to do. To be real. Be honest. Be vulnerable. Be open. Be receptive. The lowest I got during my weight loss journey was 197 pounds. The weight I have been most comfortable at considering my current muscle mass is at 217 pounds. That’s 20 pounds from where I am today. Though I am not fixated on numbers, I know that my current status is not where it needs to be. There is no room to make any excuses. That’s how all of a sudden one can find themselves right back where they started!
Its not about losing the weight. Its about losing it and never finding it again. For that to be a reality its not something that can be done alone. I am So thankful to my wife who stands over the scale when I step up on it. I am so thankful to friends and family that love me enough to call me out. Even with all my notoriety, spotlights and "expertise" on the subject of weight loss they are willing to ask how I’m doing or to point out they notice a subtle change. I don’t resent that. I cherish it. Welcome it. Embrace it. Need it.
My specific goal is to cut back on late night snacking. I need to stop eating after dark. My time in the gym I am actually feeling great about. When I cant go or if I work out for a little less time its because I legitimately don’t have the extended 1 1/2 to 2 hours to spend there. Being a daddy has added a whole new dimension to life and as long as I can burn at least 7,000 calories a week at the gym I am very content with that accomplishment. Deb and I are starting to play more tennis and do other outdoor activities to enjoy time together that can also be beneficial in burning some calories. My next physical hobby is to take up surfing! Deb bought a nice pink long board.... hmm wanna see me in a wet suit with it for my next update pic? I’ll definetly be wearing a wet suit lest the other beach heads freak out at the loose skin sighting! Big Smile.
So I am honored to join you on-line. I too will do weekly updates and monthly pictures. As our numbers grow I am so excited to finally be occupying the spot that’s been reserved for me. Thank you for the opportunity to walk with you side by side.
